Abstract
This dataset compiles information from specimens of the genus Clematis (Ranunculaceae) deposited in herbaria, focusing on species native to Brazil and including additional records from neighboring South American countries. It was developed as part of a comprehensive taxonomic revision of the genus in Brazil. The dataset is provided as an Excel file and contains 1,435 records, representing a total of 1,986 examined specimens when duplicates are considered. Each record includes standardized information on collection locality, elevation, geographic coordinates, date of collection, presence of flower/fruit, collector's name and number, and herbarium voucher. All records originate from publicly accessible herbarium collections, and no sensitive or legally restricted information is included.

Description of the data and file structure
This spreadsheet contains data from all examined specimens deposited in herbaria, organized alphabetically. When collector numbers were unavailable, herbarium accession numbers or barcodes were provided.
The data were obtained from specimens deposited in several herbaria, examined either physically or through digital images. Each specimen was identified, and information from the labels was converted and inserted into the spreadsheeet. Months are indicated using Roman numerals; geographic coordinates are given in decimal degrees; reproductive stage and flower type are provided in abbreviated form.

Variables
- species: (character) The name of the species (binomial).
- country: (character) The name of the country.

- locality: (character) The specific locality.
- elevation: (numeric) The elevation above sea level, in meters (m).
- latitude: (numeric) The latitude in decimal degrees, WGS84.
- longitude: (numeric) The longitude in decimal degress, WGS84.
- date (alphanumeric) The date, with months represented by roman numerals.
- flower, fruit (character) The reproductive stage and flower type (abbreviations: fl = flower; fr = fruit; perf. fl. = perfect flower; pist. fl = pistillate flower; stam. fl. = staminate flower).
- collector name (character) The name of the collector(s).
- collector number (numeric) The number of the collector.
- herbarium (character) The standard herbarium acronym, which may be followed by the specimen's accession number or barcode.
