Abstract
This package contains genotyping-by-sequencing (GBS) data and derived SNP matrices used to evaluate the distinctiveness of Actaea rhodostigma sp. nov. relative to A. pachypoda and A. rubra in New York State. Fresh leaf tissue was collected across six sites and dried in silica; sequencing libraries were prepared with the ApeKI restriction enzyme and run on an Illumina NovaSeq 6000 to generate 150-bp paired-end reads. Sampling comprised A. rubra (n = 3), A. pachypoda (n = 4), and A. rhodostigma sp. nov. (n = 5). The resulting analyses from this data support the distinctiveness of A. rhodostigma as a distinct lineage within the North American Actaea species.

Description of the data and file structure
The dataset contains population-level sequences from three species of Actaea sampled from New York state, United States: Actaea pachypoda (n=4), Actaea rubra (n=3), and Actaea rhodostigma sp. nov. (n=5). The squnce data for each individual is comprised of pair reads resulting from GBS sequencing. This dataset represents a valuable resources for studying evolutionary genetics and species boundaries within North American Actaea species.
