Abstract

This Dataset supports the article "Aphid infestation induces plant-sex-specific changes in floral chemistry and pollinator behaviour in Silene latifolia", which is accepted for publication in the Journal of Experimental Botany. The study addresses the combined effects of Silene latifolia plant sex and infestation with the oligophagous aphid Brachycaudus lychnidis on interactions among Silene latifolia and its specialised nursery pollinator Hadena bicruris. It contains data on various floral traits (spatial flower traits, flower colour traits, floral scent traits (floral VOC), floral rewards), pollinator behaviour in binary choice tests and plant stress indicators. The data were assessed in control and aphid-infested male and female plants. A detailed description of the data acquisition process can be found in the published manuscript.
