Abstract
The datasets provide field data on nest activity patterns and song behaviour of great reed warblers. The data were collected from nests in Slovakia (locality Luba) and Czechia (locality Mutenice) and include detailed information extracted from recordings.

Description of the data and file structure
One file with two sheets: datasets_final_Dryad_submit_2025-10-17.xlsx
Sheet "Dataset_GLM" - This dataset is structured with multiple variables describing nest-specific conditions with female and male song activity patterns. Each row represents a single nest observation period with the following variables:
locality: Geographic location where the nest was monitored (Slovakia or Czechia)
day: Day of observation, where 1 = May 1st
female_status: Nesting status of the female (monogamous, secondary, or primary)
male_song_activity: Scale from 0-3 indicating male singing frequency near the nest (0 = no singing, 1 = rare singing, 2 = irregular singing, 3 = regular singing)
female_song: Binary indicator for song detection specifically in female (0 = no song, 1 = song detected)
female_sounds_per_2h: Total count of all songs produced by female during the 2-hour recording period
Sheet "Dataset_song" - This dataset contains detailed acoustic measurements of individual song characteristics. Each row represents a single song recording with the following variables:
nest_ID: Unique nest identifier
locality: Geographic location (Slovakia or Czechia)
sex: Sex of the singing individual (female or male)
song_length_total: Total song duration in seconds, measured from the start of the first element to the end of the last element
song_length_without_intro: Duration in seconds of the introductory portion, measured from the start until the first non-introductory element (all elements before g1 syllable are considered introductory)
elements_count_total: Total number of syllable elements in the song
elements_rate: Rate of syllable production per second
prop_rattle: Proportion of rattle-type elements, excluding the introductory section
prop_whistle: Proportion of whistle-type elements, excluding the introductory section
elements_count_rattle/whistle: Total count of rattle or whistle syllables present in a song
freq_rattle_mean/median: Mean and median peak frequency (Hz) of rattle elements, calculated from the first 10 rattle elements detected in the song
freq_whistle_mean/median: Mean and median peak frequency (Hz) of whistle elements, calculated from the first 10 whistle elements detected in the song
freq_rattle_sd/freq_whistle_sd: Standard deviation of peak frequency (Hz) for rattle and whistle elements, computed from the first 10 corresponding elements
