Abstract
The data set describes inhibitory cells and synaptic boutons in control and epileptic sea lions. It is a table of subjects with sex, age, hippocampus (sclerotic or not), group (control, unilateral sclerotic, or bilateral sclerotic) and data from each individual. Data include numbers of GABAergic boutons in layers of the dentate gyrus, numbers of granule cells, and numbers of GABAergic cell body profiles. Stereological methods were used so data on counts and coefficients of error are included. Another data set is similar but for rats in which only boutons were counted.
