Description Table 1. Raw data for the sample of extant amniotes (species means and species standard deviations), sample size (n, number of specimens of each species) and body mass ranges of the specimens used for each species. Bone size was measured as bone cross-sectional area (i.e., the surface encircled by the periosteum). Abbreviations: F, femur; H, humerus, T, tibia. Table 2. Raw data for the sample of extinct archosaurs. Only femoral bone growth rate estimations (and 95% confidence intervals) are shown because cross-validation tests suggest that neither the equation obtained for the tibiae, nor that obtained for the humeri, perform well enough to be used in paleobiological inference. Abbreviations, as in Table 1.
