Prediction of forest aboveground net primary production from high-resolution vertical leaf-area profiles K.C. Cushman and J.R. Kellner Ecology Letters TreeIDs.csv README Tree ID data for CARBONO plots Column names: plot_treeid: (text, A11 - P699; first 2-5 characters are the plot name, following characters are the tree id number) this id is unique for each tree within the database tree:(1-571) the tree number (unique within a plot but not unique across plots or in the database). plot:(text: A1-6, L1-6, P1-6) the plot name (unique for each of the 18 plots). first:(0 to 40, by 10's) the "left, lower" "x-coordinate"in m of the 10m x 10m subplot in which the tree is found (the long side of the plot runs 0-100m) second:(0 to 90, by 10's) the "left, lower" "y"-coordinate of the 10m x 10m subplot in which the tree is found (the short side of the plot runs 0-50m). dist:(0.0-15.45 m) the straight line (non-slope-corrected) distance between the "left, lower" corner pole of the subplot, and the tree. Note: 18 of these are >14.1 m, the geometric diagonal, but are <=15.5m and are almost certainly explained by being on slopes (the distance isn't slope-corrected). ang:(0-359 degrees) the compass bearing FROM the reference pole (the "lower, left" corner of the 10m x 10m subplot), TO the focal stem forma:(text: A, P, L) the "form" code used in the CARBONO project; "A" for non-palm tree ("arbol"), "P" for palm, "L" for liana genspcode:(text, 6-8 letter code, first 4 letters of genus name, followed by first 4 letters of species name, or by "SP"; or "-99-99" indicating an as-yet unidentified stem) unique code for each known species among stems in the CARBONO. Note: taxonomic changes affect many of these species, and the genspcode is updated to account for these every 2-4 yr numcoll:(428-1314) the voucher number for unidentified or ambiguous stems in the CARBONO plots; in the Clark voucher collection at LS or in the La Selva on-site herbarium firstcensus:(1997-2016) the first year the stem was censused deathyear:(1998-2016, plus -888 and -999) the year of the census in which the stem was found to be dead. Special codes: -999 indicates trees still alive in the most recent census; -888 indicates trees dead in the first census (1997) and for which actual year of death is unknown (could have been a prior year) mortcause:(9003, 9004, 9005, 9006, or blank) the code indicating cause of death as indicated by field evidence: 9003 - no apparent cause; 9004 - killed by being smashed by other stem; 9005 - possibly killed by being knocked down by another tree; 9006 - killed by evident other cause (e.g., lightning; these are documented on the field sheets) primanyo:(1997-2016) the year of first diameter measurement at the current point of measurement (POM) pomchghistory?:(checkbox; selected or not) True: at one or more of the CARBONO censuses through 2015, this stem's point of measurement (POM) was changed; False: the stem never had a POM change, 1997-2016. comment:(text) valuable information on that individual's total history, including id changes, years when the POM changed, its identification status, and its death history. Note: yearly comments from the field sheets are in the Field_Comments table
