Supplementary data for the article "Evolution of resource specialization in competitive metacommunities" by Jonas Wickman, Sebastian Diehl, and Ake Brannstrom to be published in Ecology Letters, 2019.
The data is organized into 9 folders corresponding to the 9 generated datasets listed in Supplementary Appendix S3 available online through the journal home page. Each folder contains 54 x 18 = 972 files, each corresponding to a given generalist zngi curvature and trade-off curvature. The files are organized from bottom left to top right of the figures S3.11-S3.25 row-wise, so that the first 54 outcomes correspond to the bottom row from left to right of e.g. fig 3.11.
Each outcome data file contains the densities of the two resources and all consumers at eco-evolutionary equilibrium. The resource densities are stored as two 4096x1 column vectors, which represent the stacked columns of a 64x64 grid. The consumer densities are stored as a 4096xN matrix, with N being the number of consumers, and each column of the matrix again representing the stacked columns of the 64x64 grid. See Supplementary Appendix S2 for details of how the numerical model was implemented.
A script for plotting the spatial distributions of the supply landscapes, resource densities, and consumer densities is included. After any outcome file has been loaded, simply run "plot_spatial_distributions" to inspect the distributions. The colorscale indicates the various densities. The additional file "poly_interp_per_2d" is a helper script for plotting the densities.
