Datasets of 30 freshwater lakes including macroinvertebrate data and explanatory data

Abstract
Understanding the distance-decay relationship (DDR) has been considered important because it reflects a combination of several ecological processes such as dispersal limitation and environmental sorting. However, the effects of human disturbances on DDR are poorly known, especially in freshwater lakes. To fill this gap, we used datasets across 30 freshwater lakes in the Yangtze River floodplain to examine how anthropogenic eutrophication modified the relationships between three facets (taxonomic, functional, and phylogenetic) and three measures (overall dissimilarity, turnover, and nestedness-resultant components) of macroinvertebrate beta diversity and geographic and environmental distances. The datasets include macroinvertebrate data and explanatory data in the 30 freshwater lakes.

In order to examine how anthropogenic eutrophication modified the relationships between three facets (taxonomic, functional, and phylogenetic) of macroinvertebrate beta diversity and geographic and environmental distances across 30 freshwater lakes, we need to obtain basic macroinvertebrate data from 30 freshwater lakes.
Description of the data and file structure
The datasets include macroinvertebrate data and explanatory data in the 30 freshwater lakes. We uploaded a total of 5 datasets.
The file "env" contains the environmental data of 30 freshwater lakes, the first column is the name of the lake, and the first row is the environmental factor. The column "area" refers to "lake area" in km². The column "depth" refers to "water depth" in m. The units of total nitrogen (TN), nitrate nitrogen (NO3-N), ammonium nitrogen (NH4-N), total phosphorus (TP), PO4-P, and chemical oxygen demand (CODMn) are "mg/L". The unit of chlorophyll a (Chl a) is "μg/L". The unit of conductivity is "μs/cm". The unit of transparency is "cm". The unit of vegetation coverage is "%". More details can be found in the related article, especially material methods and Table 2.
The file "pcnm" is the principal coordinates of neighbour matrix data based on the spatial distances of 30 lakes. The file "species" is the density data of macroinvertebrates in 30 lakes. The file "taxon" is the taxon data of macroinvertebrates. The file "trait" is the functional traits of macroinvertebrates.
