Abstract
Lepidagathis mahakassapae. sp. nov., monocarpic and endemic species is described from Western Maharashtra, India. The new species is allied to L. sabui from Konkan, Maharashtra. Stems of L. mahakassapae grows up to 250 cm in length which is remarkably long while few prostrate species attains this much length. Illustration and colour photographs are provided for ease of identification

Regular field surveys were made to collect the samples from various localities.
