### This excel file contains all experimental data (except sequence data, which can be found at NCBI) for the associated paper entitled "Transcriptomics of monarch butterflies (Danaus plexippus) reveals strong differential gene expression in response to host plant toxicity, but weak response to parasite infection" ## The Excel file "Total_cardenolide_and_sporeload.xlsx" contains the raw data for Figure 1. Total cardenolide concentration data (Fig. 1A) can be found in the tab "Total_cardenolide" and parasite resistance data (Fig. 1B) can be found in the tab "Parasite_resistance". ## The Excel file "Cardenolide_composition_data.xlsx" contains the raw data for Figure 2. Cardenolide composition data of foliage and frass samples can be found in the two tabs respectively. ## Explanation of column names: Species = milkweed species; CUR = Asclepias curassavica, INC = Asclepias incarnata. Concentration = cardenolide concentration (unit: mg/g); i.e., Totals/Dry_weight. Infection = parasite infection treatment; I = infected. Spore_count = raw counts of parasite sporeload (before conversion). Sporeload = parasite sporeload quantified on adult monarchs. Log_Sporeload = Log10 transformed sporeload. In the "Cardenolide composition" data, column C to P represents individual cardenolides (by retention time relative to internal standard) ## Original records were archived by Erica V. Harris (erica.vernice.harris@emory.edu).
