Date of data collection: Fish abundance data was collected over 18 years 1998 – 2016 by two annual surveys conducted by the Tuenen Institute of Sea Fisheries in Germany and the Greenland Institute of Natural Resources. 4. Geographic location of data collection: Southeast of Greenland between 63° N and 66° N. 5. Recommended citation for this dataset: Emblemsvåg et al. 2022. Data from: Recent warming causes functional borealization and diversity loss in deep fish communities east of Greenland. Diversity and Distributions, Dryad, Dataset. DATA & FILE OVERVIEW 1. Description of dataset: These data were investigated for functional charactereristics of demersal fish communities and the functional turnover in east Greenland fish driven by increased temperatures and occurrence of boreal species. Raw data has not been included. Requests to use these data may be sent to the Greenland Institute of Natural Resources. 2. File list: File 1 Name: CWMf.txt File 1 Description: 1303 sites by 19 CWM traits' matrix. Community Weighted Mean traits calculated for each 1303 sites/samples within the dataset, weighted by the abundance of species. File 2 Name: traits1.txt File 2 Description: Demersal fish species and their traits used in the analysis. Data was initially collected from an online database of traits of marine fish species from the North Atlantic and Northeast Pacific (Beukhof et al., 2019) and from Fishbase (Froese & Pauly, 2017) METHODOLOGICAL INFORMATION To investigate trait patterns across the communities (sites), community weighted mean (CWM) traits were calculated using the R package FD (Laliberté et al., 2014), providing the average trait values in a community weighted by species abundances (Lavorel et al., 2008). This resulted in the 1303 sites by 19 CWM traits' matrix provided here. The trait dataset were compiled from available literature and Fishbase. See Beukhof et al. (2019) for more information.
