README file accompanying Fritz et al. genetic mapping sequence data. Data provided here are the molecular marker sequences for the parents of our genetic mapping cross. All genotypes for the hybrid and YHD2 parents were produced using the Stacks version 1.09 pipeline. Zipped folders contain sequence data each marker found on our Heliothis virescens linkage map. It is our hope that others will find this to be a useful genomic resource, particularly for primer design and Sanger sequencing. Please keep in mind that an outbred cross was used to produce our genetic map. Therefore, we've included both marker genotypes for each parent where they were heterozygous. Also, because of the style of our cross, some marker genotypes were presence/absence (see Wu and Ma, 2002, Theoretical Population Biology 61, pp. 349–363 for further information on this). Within each fasta file, all genotypes for markers grouped into a single linkage group are provided. To identify the markers sequences relative to their position on the linkage map (see Marker_Position_File for position information), look for the number at the head of each fasta sequence following: >cat:NUMBER This provides the Stacks catalog number, a unique identifier for each marker in our linkage map. The line below each catalog number, or marker identifier, contains the associated DNA sequence. Other useful information at the head of each fasta sequence is the allele (see |allele:NUCLEOTIDES), or the combination of variant sites within the marker sequence. The positions of these variant sites (|pos:NUM_BERS) within each 350bp marker sequence are also provided.
