Each file contains the linear data used for calculating eigenvalue variance, integration, evolvability, and conditional evolvability. Cranial base variables were extracted from 3D coordinate data, while cervical vertebrae variables were measured directly on the vertebrae with calipers. All measurements are in millimeters. homo_cb_cv.csv contains the data for Homo sapiens. Human data have been anonymized and are listed only by the author's numerical identification numbers. Human data were collected at Makerere College, Wits University, and the British Museum. pan_cb_cv.csv contains the data for Pan troglodytes hyl_cb_cv.csv contains the data for Hylobates lar Within the data, NA stands for 'No data', UK stands for 'Unknown', M for 'Male', and F for 'Female'. For geographical locations, N, S, E, and W are used as abbreviations for 'North', 'South', 'East', and 'West', respectively. Column names are listed below. CB stands for 'cranial base', while 'C_' stands for the cervical vertebral number (e.g. C1 is the atlas, C2 is the axis, and so on), through the seven cervical vertebrae. Full descriptions of each variable are available in the full publication.
