Explanation of files This archive contains data used for the paper "The molecular trigger for high-speed wing beats in a bee", authored by H. Iwamoto and N. Yagi, which has been accepted for publication in Science. WingPosition.xls: An Excel file containing data of wing angle of 9 bees. Each worksheet contains data from a single bee. Bee011, Bee012, Bee013, ... represents data for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd ....trials of the same bee. The two columns represent the angles of left and right wings (in rad). Time resolution, 0.2 ms. BeeXraydata_Tiff.zip: Zipped X-ray pattern data, edited so that a single wingbeat contains 40 X-ray frames. The data are sum from all 9 bees. Background scattering has been subtracted. Data format: Tiff, grayscale, white=zero. Because this is a 32-bit tiff, these files may not be opened by usual viewer software like Photoshop. These files can be opened by ImageJ (free software). Negative values, created as a result of background subtraction, have been set to 0. File names containing "DLM" and "DVM" refer to data summed after reorienting the pattern so that the equators for DLM and DVM are horizontal, respectively. BeeXrayIndiv_Tiff.zip: Zipped X-ray pattern data for 9 individual bees. The format is the same as in BeeXraydata_Tiff.zip.
