Virtual Models of Enalikter aphson Siveter et al. (2014). ------------------------------------------------------ Three virtual specimens of the short-great-appendage arthropod Enalikter aphson are presented in VAXML format (see Sutton et al. 2012). VAXML format models consists of a '.vaxml' file containing metadata describing the model, together with '.stl' files describing the geometry of each model piece. The methodology used to create models is briefly described by Siveter et al. (2014), and references therein. Each model is presented here a a '.zip' archive, containing a single '.vaxml' file and a directory containing multiple '.stl' files, references by the '.vaxml' file. When uncompressing, users are advised to retain this subdirectory structure. VAXML models can be directly viewed using the freely available SPIERSview application, part of the SPIERS software package (www.spiers-software.org). To view using SPIERS, simply install the software then double-click on the '.vaxml' file. As geometry in VAXML format consists of pre-transformed '.stl' files, import into any other viewing package is simply a matter of importing all '.stl' files, although metadata (such as colour, scale, and taxonomic information) will of course not be imported, and peculiarities of any particular import system may provide further hinderances. Please contact m.sutton@ic.ac.uk if you require assistance with any technical difficulties regarding VAXML format. ------------------------------------------------------ ----------- References ----------- Siveter, Derek J., Briggs, D.E.G., Siveter, David J., Sutton, M.D.,Legg, D. & Joomun, S. 2014.
