Abstract

The new species Crotalaria gajureliana is described and illustrated. It was found in the Nashik district, Maharashtra state, India. Crotalaria gajureliana is a member of C. sect.
Calycinae subsect. Diffusae and it is closely related to C. filipes. However, the presenceof hyaline, irregularly shaped glands throughout the seeds makes it unique within the
genus. A key to the species of C. subsect. Diffusae in India is provided to facilitate identification.

Methods

The plant material was collected from Nashik district and novelty was confirmed by using regional floras, mannual and consulting type specimens and protologue of its related species i. e. Crotalaria filipes.

The nomeclature of new species has been made by following the ICN rules.

The type specimens of new species i. e. Crotalaria gajureliana will be diposited in mentioned herbaria after publication.
