Abstract
This dataset contains information about the cannabis industry businesses, organizations, and individuals that lobby in Colorado. Its primary purpose is to serve as a repository of names, affiliations, and connections which can assist other researchers in identifying members of the cannabis industry or those representing cannabis industry interests in other areas.
Methods
This data was collected between February and September of 2021 using a snowball search of publicly available government databases, public news media articles, and public business websites. Lobbying expenditure and income totals represent spending between July 1, 2009 and June 30, 2021 and are adjusted for inflation into June 2021 dollars using consumer price index data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics. Additional client information was gathered from the Colorado Department of State's (CDOS) website, public business webpages, and internet searches. Bill information was gathered from the Colorado state General Assembly's website and combined with data from the CDOS lobbying database.
