Frontiers in Marine Science. DATA & FILE OVERVIEW 1. File List: datafile - turtles.csv and method file including R script - MethodsS1.pdf 2. Relationship between files, if important: the method file describes one worked example including R script and the associated data can be found in the data file 3. Additional related data collected that was not included in the current data package: NA 4. Are there multiple versions of the dataset? No METHODOLOGICAL INFORMATION 1. Description of methods used for collection/generation of data: Sea turtle nest count data at 6 sites inside Conkouati-Douli National Park in the Republic of the Congo. Data obtained following beach patrols conducted at dawn to record the previous night's nesting activity, with field assistants surveying the entire nesting beach. At least two people were engaged in each patrol to ensure that the total width of beach available for nesting was surveyed for signs of visible activity - with one field assistant walking along the vegetation line and the other along the high tide line. 2. Methods for processing the data: NA 3. Instrument- or software-specific information needed to interpret the data: NA 4. Standards and calibration information, if appropriate: NA 5. Environmental/experimental conditions: NA 6. Describe any quality-assurance procedures performed on the data: NA 7. People involved with sample collection, processing, analysis and/or submission: G.B., A.B., N.B., E.C., B.K.C., A.F., K.M., D.T., and H.V. were responsible for collating, digitising, and cleaning nest beach monitoring data; T.J.M., G.P.B., L.C.M.O., B.J.G., and K.M. developed and tested the seasonal nesting model; L.C.M.O, T.J.M., B.J.G., and K.M. interpreted and analysed the results. DATA-SPECIFIC INFORMATION FOR: turtles.csv 1. Number of variables: 7 2. Number of cases/rows: 13056 3.
