RawMRData.zip contains raw MRI data compressed into NIFTI files. When you unzip this file you should see a separate folder for each of 36 participants. Within each participants' folder you will find one T1 scan and a number of functional scans. Functional scans are named "FMRI_TT_?.nii.gz" where ? is the functional scan within a sequence of 9 total scans. No participant will have a "FMRI_TT_1.nii.gz" file. This is because the first scan is a practice scan to get participants acclimated to the scanner environment. In 4 participants, you will see fewer than 8 total functional scans because they did not complete the entire 9-scan sequence. Participants with excessive motion that were not analyzed are included in the dataset (see laboratory log for notes that identify these participants). Two participants were excluded from data analysis prior to inspection of motion (for claustrophobia and completing only a single sequence) and these participants are not included in the database. Note, the T1 scans have been brain extracted to help ensure anonymity of participants. The fractional intensity threshold used during brain extraction is included in the file name. For example, "T1_bet_f0.4" represents a fractional intensity threshold of 0.4. Note, brain extraction was enhanced using bias field and neck cleanup. The timing files required to analyze the functional data are contained in the timing.zip file. These text files represent events of different types. Each participant will have a series of 8 text files per run. Each file will be named something like this: "Subject_X_run_Y_rZ_Viz.txt". The first number, X, corresponds to the participant ID that matches the scanning data. The second number, Y, corresponds to the functional scan in the sequence of 9 total scans performed by that participant (this will also match the scanner data). The final text appending the file name represents the kind of events that are coded in the text file. These events are also referred to by a number, Z, that is consistent across runs/participants. Here is a key for these names/numbers: r1_Viz -- refers to visual instructions for each trial r2_speakNonword -- refers to trials that involved silent articulation of tongue twisters biased to produce nonword errors r3_speakWord -- trials that involved silent articulation of tongue twisters biased to produce neutral word errors r4_speakTaboo -- trials that involved silent articulation of tongue twisters biased to produce taboo word errors r5_imagineNonword -- trials that involved imagined articulation of tongue twisters biased to produce nonword errors r6_imagineWord -- trials that involved imagined articulation of tongue twisters biased to produce neutral word errors r7_imagineTaboo -- trials that involved imagined articulation of tongue twisters biased to produce taboo word errors r8_errors -- the above files contain only events where participants self-reported correctly reciting the tongue twisters. This file will contain events of any type where participants self-reported an error during recitation. Note, these text files are formatted for FSL. The rows within each file represent events/trials. The files contain three columns. Column 1 tells you the start of the event in seconds relative to the start of the experiment. Column 2 tells you the duration of the event. Column 3 is a dummy variable (see FSL documentation for more information about why this is necessary).
