Seven of these plants did not associate with N-fixing bacteria, while four of them did. The four species that associate with N-fixing bacteria belong to the Fabaceae family File/Folder Details =================== Details for: * Phosphorus.csv --------------------------------------- * Description: a comma-delimited file containing the soil phosphorus fractions for the three different treatments of the study * Format(s): .csv * Size(s): 2.95 KB * Dimensions: 46 rows x 11 columns * Variables: * species: scientific species name for all the plant species of the study * acronym: the first three letters of the genus and species names * number: the ID of the individual plant * treatment: the different treatments added control (no phosphorus), low (4.5 kg ha year of phosphorus), and high (45 kg ha year of phosphorus) * Columns 5 through 11: contain the different phosphorus fractions Pi /NaHCO3 (mg/kg) - inorganic phosphorus Po /NaHCO3 (mg/kg) - organic phosphorus Pi /NaOH (mg/kg) - inorganic phosphorus Po /NaOH (mg/kg) - organic phosphorus Pi /HCl (mg/kg) - inorganic phosphorus P /Residual (mg/kg) Total P (mg/kg) Details for: * SoilpH.csv --------------------------------------- * Description: a comma-delimited file containing the soil pH of the individuals planted * Format(s): .csv * Size(s): 8.52 KB * Dimensions: 214 rows x 5 columns * Variables: * species: scientific species name for all the plant species of the study * acronym: the first three letters of the genus and species names * number: the ID of the individual plant * treatment: the different treatments added control (no phosphorus), low (4.5 kg ha year of phosphorus), and high (45 kg ha year of phosphorus) * Columns 5 : contains the soil pH Details for: * ShadeHousePhosphorus.csv --------------------------------------- * Description: a comma-delimited file containing the plant traits measured in this study * Format(s): .csv * Size(s): 86 KB * Dimensions: 214 rows x 42 columns * Variables: * species: scientific species name for all the plant species of the study * acronym: the first three letters of the genus and species names * number: the ID of the individual plant * InitialHeight:seedling initial height cm * treatment: the different treatments added control (no phosphorus), low (4.5 kg ha year of phosphorus), and high (45 kg ha year of phosphorus) * Column 5 : functional type - Fixer or Non-fixer * Column 6 : DryRoots - g * Column 7 : DryStem - g * Column 8 : DryLeaves - g * Column 9 : LMF (leaf mass fraction) - g g^-1 * Column 10 : RMF (root mass fraction) - g g^-1 * Column 11 : SMF (stem mass fraction) - g g^-1 * Column 12 : SLA (specific leaf area) - cm^2 g^-1 * Column 13 : LMA (leaf mass area) - g cm^-2 * Column 14 : MycorrhizalColonization - % of arbuscular mycorrhizal colonization * Column 15 : RPA (root phosphatase activity) - m mol p NP g^-1 h^-1 * Column 16 : TotalRootLenght - mm * Column 17 : Perimm - root perimeter in mm * Column 18 : Volumm - root volume in mm^3 * Column 19 : Samm - specific root area in mm^2 * Column 20 : NR - nodule ratio in g g^-1 * Column 21 : DNodules - dry nodules mass in mg * Column 22 : Foliar P - mg g^-1 * Column 23 : HRGRmm - relative growth rate based on height cm d^-1 * Column 24 : Foliar Ca - mg kg^-1 * Column 25 : Foliar Cu - mg kg^-1 * Column 26 : Foliar Fe - mg kg^-1 * Column 27 : Foliar K - mg kg^-1 * Column 28 : Foliar Mg - mg kg^-1 * Column 29 : Foliar Mn - mg kg^-1 * Column 30 : Foliar Na - mg kg^-1 * Column 31 : % N * Column 32 : Foliar N - mg g^-1 * Column 33 : d15N - ‰ * Column 34 : % C * Column 35 : Foliar C - mg g^-1 * Column 36 : d13C - ‰ * Column 37 : C:N * Column 38 : N:P * Column 39 : C:P * Column 40 : SecondaryRoots - weight in g * Column 41 : SRl - specific root lenght in m g^-1 * Column 42 : RoothLenght - only secondary roots in m Details for: * Photosynthesis.csv --------------------------------------- * Description: a comma-delimited file containing the photosynthesis traits measured in this study * Format(s): .csv * Size(s): 9 KB * Dimensions: 77 rows x 14 columns * Variables: * species: scientific species name for all the plant species of the study * acronym: the first three letters of the genus and species names * number: the ID of the individual plant * treatment: the different treatments added control (no phosphorus), low (4.5 kg ha year of phosphorus), and high (45 kg ha year of phosphorus) * FT : functional type - Fixer or Non-fixer * Column 6 : Vcmax - micro mol CO2 m^-2 s^-1 * Column 7 : Jmax - micro mol CO2 m^-2 s^-1 * Column 8 : Amax - photosynthetic capacity in micro mol CO2 m^-2 s^-1 * Column 9 : TPU - triose phosphate utilization in micro mol CO2 m^-2 s^-1 * Column 10 : InitialHeight - seedling initial height cm * Column 11: Foliar P - mg g^-1 * Column 12: PPUE - photosynthetic phosphorus use efficiency micro mol CO2 g^-1 s^-1 * Column 13: g - micro mol CO2 g^-1 s^-1 * Column 14: WUE - water use efficiency calculated from g in micro mol CO2 mmolH2O^-1 * Missing data codes: NA
