Metadata Earlier flowering of winter oilseed rape compensates for higher pest pressure in warmer climates Fricke U, Redlich S, Zhang J, Tobisch C, Rojas-Botero S, Benjamin C S, Englmeier J, Ganuza C, Riebl R, Uhler J, Uphus L, Steffan-Dewenter I Data type: raw experimental data per pod of plants sampled during ripening Winter oilseed rape plants were sampled during crop ripening on 29 study sites across a spatial multi-annual mean temperature gradient (1981-2010) in Bavaria, Germany, and were dried for yield assessment. To obtain seed yield values per plant, the number of seeds per pod were counted for 20 pods (this data set), and also the number of pods per ripe, air-dried plant were counted and 400 seeds per plant were weighted (see Fricke_et_al_yield_sample_data_per_plant_raw.csv). See method section of the respective manuscript for further details. Calculation of seed yield per plant based on the number of pods per plant, number of seeds per pod and seed weight is performed in the accompanying R-scripts on data processing. Columns PlotID = Unique identifier per study site Transect = Oilseed rape plants were sampled along two parallel transects from the field edge towards the field centre Distance = Five plants were sampled along each transect (in total 10) beginning 1m from field edge and then every 6m Pod_number = Numbering of the twenty pods per plant that were assessed for the number of seeds per pod (1-20, unique pod identifier in combination with PlotID, Transect and Distance) Seeds_per_pod = Number of seeds per plant pod
