ReadMe file for Marshall et al 2014 - EE - experiment agonism data.csv This file contains the data set describing the agonistic behaviour observed in a field experiment and analysed in Social effects on foraging behaviour and success depend on local environmental conditions by Marshall et al. in Ecology and Evolution The data was collected by Harry Marshall, Alecia Carter, Alan Cowlishaw, Ailsa Henderson, Matt Holmes, James McKenna, Gordon Pearson and Jonathan Usherwood at Tsaobis Leopard Park, Namibia between May and September 2010. Please contact Harry Marshall with any questions. Each row describes the agonistic behaviour expereinced by one baboon under one experimental patch configuration. COLUMN HEADINGS - The headings described below correspond to the response variables (first group), fixed effects (second group) and random effects (third group) used in the analyses. - All non-categorical fixed effects (second group of headings) have been standardised based on the population mean and SD. - Please see Methods text in the paper for details on how the variables described here were calculated. give: number of agonistic interactions given receive: number of agonistic interactions received feeding: time (mininutes) observed feeding on the experimental arena mean.patch.food.content: mean amount of food contained in each pach (grams/metre^2) inter.patch.distance: distance between each patch (metres) age: estimated age of focal baboon (years) sex: focal baboon sex rank: focal baboon rank social.bond.strength: focal baboon mean social bond strength social.bond.symettry: focal baboon mean social bond symettry relatedness: focal baboon mean relatedness focal: focal baboon unique ID troop: focal baboon's troop ID
