# Woodcock tail feathers --- These data contain spectrophotometry measures and FDTD model results using in our MS - ## Description of the data and file structure Two separate data files, both arranged with either species or angle of incidence (AOI) column labels, with multiple measures below. \ 1) Woodock data_set, with four measures of the white section of a woodcock's tail feather tips, using a spectrometer set up described in the methods section of the associated manuscirpt MS. These data are arranged with each measure (one - four) in column B - E; column A is the wavelength (300 - 800nm). 2) FDTD results, using methods described between the methods in the associated manuscript and CAD geometries described in the ESM. These are simualted results from those models. Note that column A contains wavelength again (380 - 800nm). Columns B - K are simulated measures of reflectance on either the a CAD unit cell that represents the white tip of a woodcock's tail feather, or a control unit cell (hollow or solid), note that the number in the column nmes denotes simaulted AOI. ## Sharing/Access information These data can be used with permission. Comparison data from other white plaumged species is from - Igic, B., L. D’Alba and M. D. Shawkey. 2018. Fifty shades of white: how white feather brightness differs among species. Sci.
