Description: Input variables used in the binomial GLMMs to examine whether the proportion of individuals per species crossing the habitat boundary was influenced by species' traits, abundance and habitat of first capture. The dependent variable ('NotCrossed' and 'Crossed') comprised proportion data for each of the 16 study species, computed as the total number of individuals of a species crossing the boundary as a proportion of all recaptured individuals of that species that moved to a different trap. Data for each species comprised separate information for forest and plantation individuals. Column Headings: NotCrossed: Number of individuals of each species that were recaptured moving to a different trap, but did not cross the boundary. Crossed: Number of individuals of each species that were recaptured moving across the boundary. NoIndRecapMove: Number of individuals of each species that were recaptured moving to a different trap (either in the same habitat, or across the boundary) NoIndRecapTot: Total number of individuals of each species that were recaptured (either moving to a different trap, or staying in the same trap). Transition: FP = individuals of each species that were marked in forest, and so if captured crossing the boundary would have moved from forest into plantation. PF = individuals of each species that were marked in plantation, and so if captured crossing the boundary would have moved from plantation into forest. 'Transition' represents the obligate habitat (of first capture) covariate in order to control for the different numbers of individuals marked in each habitat. EcoCrosser: TRUE = a species that was captured crossing the boundary (ecotone); FALSE: a species that did not cross the boundary. Subfamily: Butterfly subfamily (included in the GLMMs as a random effect). Species: Species code representing each species (see 'RawButterflyCaptureData.csv' for corresponding species name). HPPresent: Host plant availability (No = Larval host plants of species not present in plantation habitat; Yes = larval host plants of species present in plantation habitat). NoHPGenera: Host plant specificity (number of host plant genera species has previously been recorded feeding on). WLOtsuka = Forewing length (mm). Abundance = Total number of individuals of each species captured during the study. HabAbun = Number of individuals of each species marked in each habitat type (used in GLMMs to control for local density and recapture rates of species in each habitat). GeoRange = Geographic range of species.
