SF-6D explanation All the data was collected from an inner city adult emergency department in Bristol England between 2006-10 and 2008. The missing data has been coded as 999 and excluded patients (those with Brocken bones) as 888. The only site used in the paper was 1.0. The other variables such as: patient identification number, fracture, site, sex and randomisation have been described in the file results explanation. The SF-6D is a derivative of the SF-12v2 scores. The Cost Utility Analysis used the SF-6D algorithm to convert the SF12v2 into a utility index between 0 and 1. A score of 0 is equivalent to death and 1 to a state of perfect health. This can then be used to calculate quality adjusted life years. The SF-6D uses six dimensions from the SF12v2 health assessment questionnaire and then utilises a standard gamble technique to assess a value of health. Table describing the variable in the file SF-6D. SF-6D baseline - This is the short form-6 dimensions (SF-6D) questionnaire baseline results. SF-6D2- This is the SF-6D score at 2 weeks post injury. SF-6D 8- This is the SF-6D score at 8 weeks post injury weeks. PCS - This is the Physical component score of the SF-12v2 at: baseline; 2 weeks and 8 weeks post injury. MCS - This is the Mental component score of the SF-12v2 at: baseline; 2 weeks and 8 weeks post injury. PCS, MCS and SF-6D difference- This is the difference in these scores from base line to at 2 and 8 weeks. Percentage SF-6D - This is the percentage improvement in the SF-6D at 2 and 8 weeks.
