ReadMe file for "Sex Specific Weight Loss Mediates Sexual Size Dimorphism in Drosophila melanogaster" Description of files/data: 1. growth rate data (with graph).xls - this excel file contains all of the growth rate data used, including a graph for visualization of the data. 2. ssd critical size.xls - this excel file contains all of the critical size data used in the analysis. Included is a graph displaying the relationship between larval and pupal weight with the equation used to calculate "converted larval weight." 3. R analysis - this folder contains the R script and each csv file accessed by the script for the analyses. This includes all of the data used in the paper. 3a. Weight Loss Mediates SSD - Final Analusis.R - This is the R script which contains all of the necessary R code used in analysis for the paper. This file accesses the other csv files, thus they are compressed together. 3b. growth rate data.csv - this csv includes all of the data associated with growth. Description of headings is as follows: age (hours); instar=larval instar/molt; weight(mg); m.weight=male weight (mg); f.weight=female weight (mg); m.avg=average male weight for the time point (mg); f.avg=average female weight for the time point (mg); m.ci and f.ci=values for confidence interval at each time point by sex. 3c. ssd-plast critical size.csv - this csv includes all of the data associated with critical size. Not all headings are clear for this data set so they are listed as follows: larval=larval weight (mg); pupar=whether or not the larva has pupariated at this time point; pupal=pupal weight (mg); ttp=time to pupariation (hours); eclose=whether or not the pupa has eclosed at this time point; conv_larv=weight of pupa back-converted to its predicted larval weight (mg). 3d. all data -- targets of selection.csv - this csv includes all values calculated with R for several important variables. These data were used for plotting purposes only. 3e. eclosion regression data.csv - this csv includes the necessary data which is formatted to perform logistic regression analysis for eclosion. 3f. pupal regression data.csv - this csv includes the necessary data which is formatted to perform logistic regression analusis for pupation. 3g. Inr SSD.csv - this csv includes data for Inr mutants. Included are the data used for male and female Inr mutants and male and female controls.
