Supplemental Data for "The Black Queen Hypothesis" by Morris, Lenski, and Zinser The following files contain the data used to produce the two trees contained in Figure 1. 1) katG_Master.fasta -- an alignment of all 434 katG peptide sequences available at PeroxiBase.org as of 6 July 2011, in FASTA format 2) katG_tree.fasta -- the 15 katG sequences used to produce the tree in Figure 1, extracted from the master alignment in file 1. Also in FASTA format. 3) katG_Distance.csv -- genetic distances computed for the sequences in file 2 (below the diagonal) and variances for these distances computed using 1000 bootstrap replicates (above the diagonal). In comma-separated value format. 4) katG.nwk -- the katG tree from figure 1 in Newick format. 5) 16S.fasta -- the 23 small subunit rDNA sequences obtained and aligned via Silva, used to construct the 16S tree in figure 1. In FASTA format. 6) 16S_Distance.csv -- as file 3, but for the 16S sequences. 7) 16S.nwk -- the 16S tree from figure 1 in Newick format.
