Summary of Dryad submission for: Kousteni et al. "Strong population genetic structure and contrasting demographic histories for the small-spotted catshark (Scyliorhinus canicula) in the Mediterranean Sea" Heredity The following data file is provided in this dryad submission: Filename: Kousteni_etal_Scanicula_msat_data.csv Description: A .csv file (comma delimited) containing microsatellite raw data for 834 specimens of Scyliorhinus canicula for twelve microsatellite loci (Scan02, Scan03, Scan04, Scan06, Scan09, Scan10, Scan11, Scan12, Scan13, Scan14, Scan15 and Scan16) described in Griffiths et al., Conservation Genet Resour (2011) 3:705-709. The locus Scan14 was scored as containing both odd and even alleles (they were very clear in the ABI3730 chromatograms), probably due to indels in the flanking regions. The first column contains population identifiers for each sample collection (10 populations in total), the second column contains an individual identifier, and the next 24 columns contain the genotypes at each of 12 loci (2 columns per locus). Associated datasets stored elsewhere: The raw sequence data of the COI mitochondrial DNA gene fragment from 392 of the 834 specimens can be accessed via accession numbers KM819715-KM820106 at the Genbank, http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/genbank Whom to contact for this dataset: Dr. Panagiotis Kasapidis Institute of Marine Biology, Biotechnology and Aquaculture Hellenic Centre for Marine Research (HCMR) P.O.
