This folder contains the data for the article: Reher, S. and Dausmann, K.H: Tropical bats counter heat by combining torpor with adaptive hyperthermia. Proc. R. Soc. B Please send comments and inquiries to Stephanie Reher: stephanie.reher@uni-hamburg.de. Although all material is freely available, I would appreciate being informed in case you use the dataset, and then cite it as well as the associated paper where appropriate. Description This README file describes the data set accompanying the aforementioned publication. 1.MR_vs.Ta.csv: csv.-file of mean metabolic rate values (“Metabolic_rate” in in ml O2 h-1 g-1) and standard deviation (“MR_standard.deviation” in in ml O2 h-1 g-1) per ambient temperature step (“Temperature_step” in °C) as well as the number of bats measured at each temperature step (“N_per_temperature.step”), the percentage of bats that had entered extended torpor at this temperature (“Percentage_torpid”) and the respective physiological state (“State”; i.e. euthermic, extended torpor bouts, micro-bouts). 2.MR&Tskin_mean.per.state.csv: csv.-file of mean metabolic rate values (“MR_mean” in ml O2 h-1 g-1) and maximum skin temperature values (“Tskin_max” in °C) per bat individual (“Bat_ID”) and physiological state (“State”; i.e. euthermic, extended torpor bouts, micro- bouts).
