Readme This file contains the microsatellite data from the paper "Genomic conflict drives patterns of X-linked population structure in Drosophila neotestacea." These data are in the format required for the program Structure, with each individual on one line. Included here are 12 X-linked loci from each of 485 individuals from 16 populations. All individuals are wild-caught flies. See Dyer 2007 Molecular Ecology Notes for a description of the loci. An unknown allele state is coded as -9. Column 1: This is the individual label, where each individual is labeled pop-#, with the pop the abbreviation for the population and the number the fly number from that particular population. See the above paper for a description of the population abbreviations. Column 2: This is the population number, which is used in the Structure analysis. Additional information: Column 3: Sex, M (male) or F (female) Column 4: This is the sex-ratio status of the individual, based on offspring sex ratio. SR = sex-ratio, ST = standard, ? = unknown. This was only tested for males. Column 5: This is the inferred sex-ratio status of the individual, based on membership in the SR-associated cluster. Where the cell is blank this individual usually was inferred to be SR/ST. See the above paper for more information. Column 6: Whether the individual was included in the random population sample or not. See the above paper for more information. You will need to remove the column names for columns 1-6 prior to analyses with Structure. They are included in the file for clarity. Most of these individuals were also used in the analysis of 7 autosomal microsatellites from Dyer 2012 Evolution. See Dryad doi:10.5061/dryad.sp4hq3rt for these data.
