Date of data collection (single date, range, approximate date): The determination of the olive fruits' VOCs was conducted from 2017-7-20 to 2017-9-20, approximately. The bioassays were conducted from 2017-10-15 to 2018-6-5, approximately. 4. Geographic location of data collection: The data were collected in Thessaloniki, Greece and in Athens, Greece. 5. This dataset contains the data of the volatile composition of field collected olive fruits cv. Megaritiki at 3 different dates and respective ripening stages. ii) Data_for_table_3a_and_table_4_(mating_percentage).xlsx. This dataset contains the data of the mating percentage of virgin Bactrocera oleae males and females that were exposed to the VOCs. iii) Data_for_table_3b_and_table_4_(mating_duration).xlsx. This dataset contains the data the mating duration (minutes) of each Bactrocera oleae mated pair that was exposed to the VOCs. iv) Data_for_figure_2_and_table_3c.xlsx. This dataset contains total egg production/ female of Bactrocera oleae in their adult life after their exposure at the VOCs. v) Data_for_figure_3.xlsx. This dataset contains total egg production/ female of Bactrocera oleae during their adult life after their exposure at the VOCs. 2. Are there multiple versions of the dataset? no METHODOLOGICAL INFORMATION 1. Methods for processing the data: To detect whether the collection date of the olives affects the VOCs emissions, VOCs data were analyzed using a one-way ANOVA analysis. Τo detect the significant effects of VOCs or VOC mixtures, exposure dose, and their interaction on B. oleae mating and egg production, data were analyzed using a two-way ANOVA analysis. To perform multi comparisons of means, we further recorded our data set as a one-way ANOVA by using 24 levels of one pseudo-factor condition (i.e. combination treatment). 2. Instrument- or software-specific information needed to interpret the data: IBM SPSS Statistics 25.0 and SIMCA 14.1 software. 3. Environmental/experimental conditions: Temperature 25οC, Relative Humidity (RH) 65 % and a Photoperiod of 16:8 L:D. 4.
