This dataset includes supplementary information and 3D .ply models from Figueroa et al. "The oldest Devonian circumpolar ray-finned fish?" published on Biology Letters Files and description: - DGM_890_brachiopod.ply -- .ply model of a lingulid brachiopod found in the same sample as the taxon described in the manuscript; - DGM_890_ichnofossil.ply -- .ply model of an icnofossil found in the sames sample as the taxon described in the manuscript; - DGM_890_matrix.ply -- .ply model of the rocky matrix enveloping the fossils; - DGM890-P_JAW.ply -- .ply model of the jaw described in the manuscript; - DGM890P_CTdata.zip -- zipped folder including .vol and info from the CT scan of DGM 890-P; - CMNH8124_Tegeolepis.ply -- .ply model of the Tegeolepis jaw figured in the manuscript; - CMNH8124_Tegeolepis.zip -- zipped folder including .vol and info from the CT scan of CMNH 8124; - Figueroaetal_phylomatrix.nex -- nexus formated phylogenetic matrix used in the phylogenetic analysis discussed in the manuscript. Usage: .ply files can be open with any 3D editing software such as Blender (https://www.blender.org/download/) or MeshLab (https://www.meshlab.net/#download). .vol files can be open and processed with CT medical softwares such as Mimics or Avizo and information on CT scans necessary to correctly open the .vol files (e.g. volume size) can be found in the .vgi file for CMNH 8124 and in the files .pca and .pcr for DGM 890-P. Adittional information not necessary to open .vol files is available for DGM 890-P in the remaining files (.dtxml; .pcj; .pcp). All files (except for .vol) can be open with any text editor software. The .vgl file available for DGM 890-P can be open with the myVGL software (https://www.volumegraphics.com/en/products/myvgl.html) instead of using the .vol file as mentioned above. .nex files can be open with any text editor or with phylogenetic matrix softwares (e.g. Mesquite, https://www.mesquiteproject.org/).
