This file contains data from: Veen, J., Overdijk, O. and Veen, T. (2012) The diet of an endemic subspecies of the Eurasian Spoonbill Platalea leucorodia balsaci, breeding at the Banc dÕArguin, Mauritania. Ardea: in press. Data collectors: Jan Veen and Otto Overdijk. For information on data collection and methods, contact Jan Veen (dallmeijer@planet.nl) For information on statistical analyses, contact Thor Veen (thorveen@gmail.com) All data for the statistical analyses are included in two CSV files (i.e. values separated by commas). The file "2Spoonbill_diet_multiple_years.csv" is the second data file and contains data on the diet of Spoonbills over multiple years which is analysed in the section 'Diet differences between years' in the Results section of the paper. The first column is the year of collection and each column represents a food item or a summary of a set of these. Most columns names are self-explanatory and refer to fish family names (Gobiidae, Soleidae, Mugilidae, Cichlidae) or shrimp. The column rest_fish refers to unidentified fishes and the column fish is the sum of all fish diet items combined per year. Other-prey contains all unidentified diet items and total is the sum of all diet items in a given year. The first analysis uses the diet columns fish, shrimp and other_prey. Proportion were obtained by dividing by the sum of all diet items in a given year (total column). The second analysis of fluctuation of the proportion of fish over years uses Gobiidae, Soleidae, Mugilidae, Cichlidae and rest_fish and the proportions were obtained for each group by dividing by sum of all fishes (fish column). NOTE the Mugilidae were lumped with the rest_fish group for the analysis but has been kept separate here provide more detailed information.
