"Data for Reichert et al. 2021 "Cognition and covariance in the producer-scrounger game", Journal of Animal Ecology, Raw data" Compiled by: Michael Reichert Department of Integrative Biology 501 Life Sciences West Oklahoma State University Stillwater, OK 74078 U.S.A. Data file saved as comma-delimited .csv file. Each row corresponds to an individual visit in which the bird identified in the RFID column could have scrounged (i.e., had a scrounging opportunity; see text for definition). Note that data have been filtered to only include data from the N=183 individuals that met the learning criterion in all three experiments. Used to create Figure 1, Table 1, Table S1, Figure S2 There are four different files here corresponding to different intervals for defining a scrounging opportunity. The files end with the designation of the interval (5s, 2s, 4s, 6s). Analyses reported in the text use the scrounge interval of 5s. Those reported in Table S1 use the 2, 4 or 6 s intervals. The column headings are defined as follows: 1. RFID - The unique RFID code assigned to an individual 2. Date - The date in YYYY-MM-DD format 3. TimeofDay - The number of seconds elapsed since midnight on that day. 4. Site - Which of the 8 locations within Wytham Woods was this bird making a visit to an array of feeders? 5. Scrounger - Did the bird actually scrounge (in which case the value will be "Scrounger") or not (in which case the value will be "NotScrounger"). See text for definition of scrounging. 6. Interval - The amount of time (in s) elapsed since the previous bird's departure and the individual's arrival on the feeder. Note only intervals 5 s or less were considered in this analysis (see text). 7. VisitNumber- A running count of the visit number of the individual. Note this is only for visits in which the bird had an opportunity to scrounge, as defined in the text. Other visits (e.g. successful produces) are not included. 8. Species - greti = great tit; bluti = blue tit
