Main information ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Dataset Title: CEB Oak Data All Principal investigator: UCI Center for Environmental Biology (CEB) Date of data collection: 2010-2020 Information about geographic location of data collection: oak woodland sites in Orange County, CA: Aliso and Woods Canyon (AWC), Baker Canyon (BKR), Blind Canyon (BLI), Blue Diamond (BLU), Boy Scout Camp (BSC), El Moro Canyon (EMC), Extension D (EXD), Fremont Canyon (FMC), Gypsum Canyon (GYP), Irvine Mesa (IRM), James Dilley Greenbelt Preserve (JDG), Laguna Coast Wilderness (LCW), Limestone Canyon (LSC), Oak Flat (OF), Serrano Creek Trail (SER), Shoestring Canyon (SSC) Keywords used to describe the data topic: oak woodland health, restoration recommendations Language information: This database is in English Data and File Overview ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ File: CEB_OakData_All (2010-2020).xlsx Short Description: This contains all oak health demographic and pathogen data for all metrics for each woodland site from 2010-2020. There are seven sheets in the workbook. The first data sheet contains all demographic data from 2010-2020 and was used for analysis. Data Created: April 5, 2021 Sharing and Accessing Information Licenses or restrictions placed on the data: no licenses or restrictions are placed on this data Methodology ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Sampling protocol (from CEB Oak Monitoring Report Feb 29 2020): Within each woodland, random sections, or “reaches,” were identified for sampling. Each reach included clusters of trees that were monitored. Individual Coast Live Oak trees were sampled in “Y” shaped clusters that included three trees that surrounded one randomly selected “sentinel” tree. Clusters were located in woodlands in the coastal and inland protected open space within Orange County. Data processing: Data from raw CEB data set were cleaned in Excel by removing inappropriate nonnumeric characters and correcting any other errors. Analysis using cleaned data set was performed in R.
