The data files are formatted to run in the C code associated with this project -- available at https://github.com/mollyefg/budworm_model Site locations are: 1-3: Northwestern Wisconsin (sampled in 2012) -- approximate coordinates: 1) 46.43, -91.60 (Brule River State Forest) 2) 46.42, -91.71 (Brule River State Forest) 3) 46.72, -91.11 (Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest) 4-10: Northern lower peninsula of Michigan, near Grayling (sampled in 2013-2015) -- approximate coordinates: 4) 44.87, -84.67 5) 44.72, -84.70 6) 44.69, -84.67 7) 44.68, -84.63 8) 44.69, -84.69 9) 44.66, -84.66 10) 44.67,-84.65 Initial collection dates varied slightly across years, depending on growing degree days. Data collection began on May 19th in 2012, May 17th in 2013, May 21st in 2014, and May 18th in 2015. Files titled 'm2data_.txt': Each file corresponds to a given site & year of observational data. The 8 rows are the 8 weeks of data collection in each season. The 13 columns are: 1) # unparasitized budworms collected 2) # trees sampled 3) # parasitized budworms collected 4) collection week 5) # branch tips collected 6) average DBH of the trees sampled (cm) 7) average health score of the trees sampled - 1 is a healthy tree with no apparent damage, 3 is a heavily defoliated or damaged tree (these data were not used in our analyses) 8) day of the season that collection took place 9) site ID # 10) year 11) # of Braconid parasitoids 12) # of Ichneumonid parasitoids 13) # of Tachinid parasitoids 14) # of other/unidentified parasitoids Files titled 'm2expdata_.txt': Each file corresponds to a given site & year of experimental data. Experiments were run for different lengths of time across sites and years, so there are different numbers of rows in each file. Note that experimental data from site #5 in year 2014 (filename 'm2expdata4.txt') were ultimately excluded from our analyses due to technical issues with data collection, and generally low insect density and sample size. The 18 columns are: 1) experimental treatment - 1 is no treatment, 2 is partial exclusion of parasitoids, 3 is total exclusion of parasitoids 2) # unparasitized budworms collected 3) # parasitized budworms collected 4) # branch tips collected 5) # trees sampled 6) length in days of the experiment 7) start day of experiment (relative to first day of collection in that year) 8) end day of experiment 9) start week of experiment (in terms of week of data collection) 10) end week of experiment 11) average DBH of the trees sampled (cm) 12) average health score of the trees sampled - 1 is a healthy tree with no apparent damage, 3 is a heavily defoliated or damaged tree (these data were not used in our analyses) 13) site ID # 14) year 15) # of Braconid parasitoids 16) # of Ichneumonid parasitoids 17) # of Tachinid parasitoids 18) # of other/unidentified parasitoids
