READ ME File ***** CONCERNS: Molecular data (AFLP) deposited on DRYAD platform by L.C. de Witte, May 2011. Title of publication: AFLP markers reveal high clonal diversity and extreme longevity in four arctic-alpine key species Authors: de Witte, Lucienne Armbruster, Georg F.J. Gielly, Ludovic Taberlet, Pierre Stöcklin, Jürg Key words: AFLP, clonal plants, genet size, genet age, population structure, dominant species in arctic-alpine vegetation, community stability and ecosystem resilience Scientific name of species Carex curvula All. (Cyperaceae) Dryas octopetala L. (Rosaceae) Salix herbacea L. (Salicaceae) Vaccinium uliginosum L. (Ericaceae) ***** ***** Data files: 4 Microsoft Excel files, one per species Each file: 4 tab sheets, one per population Each sheet: columns with (1) Code publication, (2) Code EcoChange, (3) Markers 1-x; rows with normal and control samples Color code: Yellow: normal samples taken on the point transect Orange: control samples "intra-genet-variability-controls" Green: Presence of AFLP-fragments Data source: Raw data was obtained from an automated sequencer and markers were scored using GeneMapper 3.7 (Applied Biosystems). Subsequently, scanAFLPv1-1 (Herrmann et al. 2010) was used for stringent and consistent marker selection. IMPORTANT: (i) Matrix represents selected markers scored for each population separately, thus a comparison of the data between populations is not possible. ***** ***** *****
