File Boreal_sequence_data.fasta This file contains all unique sequences produced by gh primers and found in the Boreal experiment, except sequences occurring only once. The sequences have been produced by the Illumina technology (GA IIx sequencing platform). Data collection: Nigel Yoccoz and Kari Anne Brathen collected soil samples in the field. James Haile and Ludovic Gielly extracted DNA and performed the DNA amplification. DNA sequencing was carried out by Patrick Wincker, Corinne Cruaud, and Frederick Gavory. Eric Coissac, Nigel Yoccoz, Kari Anne Brathen, Ludovic Gielly, Mary E. Edwards, Henrik von Stedingk, Anne K. Brysting, Francois Pompanon, Jon H. Sonstebo, Christian Brochmann, Eske Willerslev, and Pierre Taberlet performed the data analysis. Contact author: Pierre Taberlet (pierre.taberlet@ujf-grenoble.fr) The description line of each sequence contains: (i) the ID for the sequence (ii) the total number of occurrence of the sequence in the dataset (count) (iii) the number of occurrences in the different samples (merged_sample) The code used for the samples are: ENG: meadow HEI: heath A-D: denotes the meadow-heath pairs (being at leat 1 km apart) 1-3: denotes plot number (three plots of approx 50x50 cm) evenly distirbuted within a meadow or heath 1-3: denotes subplot level (i.e. soil core sample from three locations evenly distributed within each plot) For example, HEI_C_3.1 means Heath, pair C, plot 3, subplot 1.
