Abstract
The dataset includes diaspore morphotype descriptions and measurements from the late Campanian (74.6 million years ago) Dori's Tuff (DT) flora in the Jose Creek Formation, New Mexico, USA. A total of 77 diaspore types have been identified from over 450 specimens. Additionally, the dataset includes the diaspore volume dataset for 59 assemblages from the Cretaceous and Cenozoic, based on Wing & Boucher's (1998) [1] data. All fossil specimens related to this dataset are reposited at the University of California Museum of Paleontology (Berkeley, CA, USA) or the Perot Museum of Nature and Science (Dallas, TX, USA).

Description of the data and file structure
The data include descriptions and classifications of fossilized diaspores (dispersal units) and measurements from the late Campanian Jose Creek Formation (74.6 Mya) from New Mexico, USA. Additionally, a dataset on diaspore volumes of the global Cretaceous to Cenozoic assemblages is provided.
Files and variables
Supplemental file uploaded to Zenodo: Data 1: Dori_s_Tuff _diaspore_morphotype_description.pdf
Description: Descriptions of the 77 diaspore morphotypes from the Dori's Tuff (DT) flora, Jose Creek Formation. Size and morphologies for each morphotype, as well as their interpretations and reasoning behind the diaspore type classification (winged, fleshy, and other), are provided.
File: Data 2: Dori_s_Tuff_diaspore_measurements.xlsx
Description: This file contains the measurements of individual specimens, as well as the average calculated volume for each morphotype. Length (L) and width (W) are always measured, and the thickness was measured when possible (T, measured) or estimated to be 2/3*W when the specimens are deeply embedded in the matrix and are highly compressed (T, estimated). Diaspore volumes were calculated based on these values, assumed to be ellipsoidal.
Variables
- Measured length (mm), measured width (mm), measured or estimated thickness (mm), and calculated volume (mm3)
File: Data 3: Diaspore_volume_of_Cretaceous_to_Cenozoic_carpofloras.xlsx
Description: A summary of the 59 Cretaceous and Cenozoic carpofloras, with their age, locality/stratigraphic horizons, and the number of taxa, as well as the average, standard deviation, maximum, and minimum volumes of different morphotypes within assemblages. The dataset is modified from Wing & Boucher (199), which was built upon Tiffney's ( [1984]) dataset, with nine additional carpofloras added. Entries of "null" represent missing data that were not provided by the referenced studies.
Variables
- age and locality/stratigraphic horizons of each assemblage, number of taxa, average, standard deviation, maximum, and minimum diaspore volume, and references.
