Description of the data and file structure

An adult female northern raccoon with three cubs was monitored in the natal cavity using a reolink camera between May 8 and May 15, 2025. The data includes video footage taken throughout the monitoring period and is broken down into individual days. In addition, an excel file is uploaded where the most important events are recorded (arrivals and departures from the cavity, cub relocation attempts, and fighting with a foreign raccoon named killer).

Description: An Excel file containing the most important events from the monitored period.

Variables

• Column A: Name of the raccoon to which the given row refers (A Hermina is a female that has had young. A killer is a strange male that has gradually killed and eaten all the young).
• Column B: Date the raccoon was present in the cavity (M/D/YY)
• Column C: Time of departure from the cavity
• Column D: Date of return to the cavity (M/D/YY)
• Column E: Time of arrival in the cavity 
• Column F: Total time the raccoon was outside the cavity (Hours.Minutes)
• Column G: Time the killer was in the cavity (Hours.Minutes)
• Column H: Notes

File: Hermina.zip

Description: Video recordings from the entire monitoring period. The video recordings are organised into folders, each containing the videos taken on a specific day during the monitoring period (8–15 May 2025). Each subfolder contains all the videos taken on that day. Specific events (e.g. departure or entry to the cavity or the presence of the killer) are recorded in an Excel file and can be searched for by date and time in the Hermina ZIP file. Video recordings are organised by date and time.
