Data and code from: Population trends and variability within bird communities are amplified by intense land use
Data files
Abstract
The dataset includes a raw data folder with bird observation data across France, as well as survey metadata of the French Breeding Bird survey for the years 2001 to 2023. Land cover and human footprint data extracted from external sources are also included with references to the original data sources. We also include the R code relevant to the corresponding manuscript's analyses, as well as processed data, allowing a user to reproduce the figure and the main statistical tests without reproducing some computationally intensive steps.
The dataset is associated with the paper "Population trends and variability within bird communities are amplified by intense land use".
code.zip
Archived code for generating the manuscript's results. After extracting, see code/README.md for installation and usage information.
data.zip
Archived data for generating the manuscript's results. After extraction, data/raw/STOC contains raw bird observation data for the square plots of the French Breeding Bird survey that were used in the manuscript's analyses. data/processed contains bird population stability and land use data for each community used in the analyses. See data/README.md for an overview of file contents and metadata.md files for detailed description.
Raw land use data was extracted from freely-accessible external sources with their own licensing and data access options. We provide detailed instructions for retrieving raw land use data in data/external_sources.md. Since we also provide processed land use data in data/processed, the statistical analyses in the manuscript are reproducible without extracting the raw land use data.
