Abstract

All early Pleistocene (late Blancan Land Mammal Age) ground squirrels (Rodentia, Sciuridae, Xerinae, Marmotini) included in the study, "Diverse early Pleistocene ground squirrels from northeastern Nebraska including a new genus and species." Data are presented separately for upper (appendix 1) and lower (appendix 2) dental elements. Within each appendix, data are ordered alphabetically by genus and species (at least 10 species in total), locality (Big Springs, Dead Creek, Hornet's Nest), dental element, and University of Nebraska State Museum (UNSM) catalog number. Dental measurements (measurement parameters given in the paper) and tooth wear stage are provided if available. Comments are provided for some specimens: in particular, morphological comments are provided for specimens that may warrant further study (i.e., those with queried identification or that I could not identify to species). These data are intended to support further metric analysis and taxonomic work by researchers interested in fossil ground squirrels.
