Abstract
This dataset provides guidance on obtaining occurrence records and environmental data for habitat suitability modeling of the cave‑dwelling pseudoscorpion genus Bisetocreagris in China. It includes 44 georeferenced occurrence points from field surveys and literature (species identifications follow the World Spider Catalog), bioclimatic variables from WorldClim v2.1 for current and future climate scenarios, and MaxEnt model outputs including suitability maps and evaluation metrics. The data support research on climate change impacts on cave biodiversity and can be reused for further species distribution modeling or comparative studies on cave‑adapted arthropods. A comprehensive README file with variable descriptions is included.

1. Files in this Dryad dataset (CC0 1.0 Universal Public Domain)
This Dryad record contains two files:
- "README.txt" (this file) – description of the dataset and how to obtain the underlying data.
- "model_parameters.txt" – model parameter settings used in MaxEnt (version 3.4.4), including regularization multiplier (0.5), feature combination (hinge and product features), training/test split (75%/25%), maximum iterations (5000), output type (Logistic), and AUC evaluation criteria.
Due to licensing restrictions, all other data (species occurrence records and climate rasters) are not deposited here. Users can obtain them directly from the original sources as described below.
2. Original data sources and how to obtain them
2.1 Species occurrence records of Bisetocreagris in China
- Source: World Arachnid Catalog (WAC) – https://wac.nmbe.ch
- How to obtain: Search for the genus Bisetocreagris on the website and download all occurrence records.
- Filtering step: After downloading, delete all non‑cave‑dwelling localities, retaining only occurrence data for cave‑endemic species.
- Final dataset contains two columns: "longitude" and "latitude" (WGS84, decimal degrees).
- Note: The data used in this study are publicly available under the CC BY‑NC‑SA 4.0 license.
2.2 Current and future bioclimatic variables
- Source: WorldClim version 2.1 – https://worldclim.org
- Spatial resolution: 2.5 arc‑minutes (~4.5 km)
- How to obtain: Download global bioclimatic variables from WorldClim.
- Clipping step: Use the China boundary map provided by the Resource and Environment Science and Data Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (https://www.resdc.cn) to clip the global data to the study area (China).
- Variables selected for this study (after correlation analysis):
- bio2 : Mean Diurnal Range (°C)
- bio7 : Temperature Annual Range (°C)
- bio10: Mean Temperature of Warmest Quarter (°C)
- bio12: Annual Precipitation (mm)
- bio14: Precipitation of Driest Month (mm)
- bio15: Precipitation Seasonality (unitless)
- bio19: Precipitation of Coldest Quarter (mm)
- For future projections, the Shared Socioeconomic Pathways SSP1‑2.6, SSP2‑4.5, and SSP5‑8.5 were used, with time periods: 20‑40, 41‑60, 61‑80, 81‑100 (corresponding to years 2021‑2040, 2041‑2060, 2061‑2080, 2081‑2100). File format: ASCII grid .
2.3 China boundary map
- Source: Resource and Environment Science and Data Center, Chinese Academy of Sciences – https://www.resdc.cn
- Purpose: Used to clip global climate data to the extent of China.
- How to obtain: After registration on the website, download the China administrative boundary vector data or standard map boundary data.
