Abstract
The dataset consists of hand-written observer notes made during submersible dives. The dataset includes all pages of the logbook with Pelagothuria natatrix sightings, and only those pages. Dive numbers, bottom depth, date, and location are listed on the first page (as a convention of the submersible operations, all depths are in feet). Subsequently, dive numbers are at the top of the page or in the column on the left. Red check marks indicate sightings of P. natatrix. Pages at the end contain a summation, and lab notes.

Description of the data and file structure
This dataset consists of hand-written notes of observations made during dives of the Johnson Sea-Link II submersible around the Galapagos Islands. The focus of these notes is the pelagic holothurian Pelagothuria natatrix, and its ecological role as a flux feeder, intercepting sinking particles as they descend through the water column.
