Abstract
Brief description of the dataset content: full-cycle temperature monitoring records for 18 measurement points across 4 processing groups (CK1, T1, CK2, T2); raw data on physiological and biochemical indicators (chlorophyll, carotenoids, MDA, PPO, POD, LOX, polyphenols, etc.) across 7 sampling stages; energy consumption statistics; evaluation data on tobacco leaf quality after curing; third-party product testing report; and preliminary experiments studied in this paper.

Description of the data and file structure
Raw Data Package/
├── 1.raw_data_temperature_field_data..xlsx
│ ├──Treatment: CK1 (non-insulated air-source heat pump barn), T1 (insulated air-source heat pump barn), CK2 (non-insulated biomass-fueled barn), T2 (insulated biomass-fueled barn)
│ ├──Point: measurement point number (1-18), with 6 points on each of the 3 tiers
│ ├──Curing time (h): hours after the start of the curing process
│ └── Temperature (°C): dry-bulb temperature recorded at the measurement point
├── 2.raw_data_Physiological_indicators_data.xlsx
│ ├── physiological and biochemical changes in tobacco leaves across flue-curing stages, and comparing treatments against controls
│ ├── Chlorophyll a, b and total (mg/g FW), Chlorophyll and carotenoid degradation (%), Carotenoid content (mg/g FW) and the carotenoid/chlorophyll ratio, Color parameters (L, a, b, c, h), ABA (µg/g FW) and MDA (check the unit, see point 4), PPO, POD and LOX activity (U/g FW)
│ ├── T1 and T2 show faster chlorophyll and carotenoid degradation, a higher carotenoid/chlorophyll ratio, higher ABA in the middle stages, lower MDA and a more yellow, darker cured leaf
├── 3.raw_data_Quality_evaluation_data.xlsx
│ ├── the treatments raise the main phenolic compounds
│ ├── the leaves are larger, heavier, and wetter
│ └── All six scores (color, maturity, leaf structure, body, oil, chroma) are higher in T1 and T2
├── 4.raw_data_Economic_benefits__data.xlsx
├── the insulation retrofit (T1, T2) cuts heat consumption compared with its own baseline
└── the retrofit pays for itself in about 1.6 to 2.6 years
Code/software
Microsoft Excel 2021 was used for data organization, preprocessing, and basic descriptive statistics. All raw data files in this dataset are saved in .xlsx format and can be viewed with any spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Excel, LibreOffice Calc, or Google Sheets, all of which are free or widely available. No additional software packages are required to view the data files. Any empty cells represent missing data.
For statistical analysis, SPSS 26.0 (IBM Corp., Armonk, NY, USA) was used to perform one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), Duncan's multiple range test for post-hoc pairwise comparisons, and Pearson correlation analysis. Figures and the correlation heatmap were generated using OriginPro 2025 (OriginLab Corporation, Northampton, MA, USA). These software tools are only required if the user wishes to reproduce the statistical results or regenerate the figures; they are not needed for simply viewing the data.
