Allium shinasii (Amaryllidaceae), a new species from Turkey

Abstract

Allium shinasii (Amaryllidaceae) is described here as a new species. Diagnostic morphological characters, a full description, and detailed illustrations are given herein. Allium shinasii is known from Tunceli province in eastern Anatolia, Turkey. According to its morphological features, it belongs to Allium sect. Codonoprasum. It is related to A. kurtzianum that belongs to the same section, A. sieheanum and A. sivasicum that belong to A. sect. Scorodon. However, it is easily distinguished from these species mainly by tepals, leaves and spathe characters.
