Abstract
We investigated whether the natal host (the tree where an immature beetle develops) influenced SPB (southern pine beetle) host selection preference by rearing beetles on either loblolly or longleaf pine logs in the lab and testing their host acceptance via no-choice and choice trials.

Description of the data and file structure
The .xlxs file includes two sheets.
- No-Choice Test_ HHSP_SPB: Table of no-choice esperiment.
-- Natal Species indicates whether the insect was reared on longleaf pine (LL) or loblolly pine (LB)
-- Generation indicates the number of rearing generation (First or Second) or if it was kept from wild populations (Wild)
-- Acceptance indicates if the acceptance trial was positive (1) or negative (0) - Choice Test_HHSP_SPB: Table of choice experiment.
-- Natal Host indicates whether the insect was reared on Longleaf pine (LL) or Loblolly pine (LB)
-- Insect ID indicates the insect ID
-- Choice indicates the experiment outcome: longleaf pine (LL), loblolly pine (LB), or none (Neither)
