Abstract

This dataset contains morphological and reproductive trait data for spider species used to investigate the relationship between hunting guild, fecundity, mortality proxies, and sexual size dimorphism. The dataset includes species-level measurements of male and female carapace length and width (mm), clutch size (number of eggs per egg sac), taxonomic family, and hunting guild classifications derived from Cardoso et al. (2011). Data were compiled from published literature sources across multiple spider families and hunting guilds worldwide. The dataset is provided as a Microsoft Excel file and includes associated literature references for each trait measurement. Missing values are indicated as “NA” when measurements were unavailable in the source literature. The dataset can be reused for comparative analyses of spider morphology, reproductive allocation, life-history evolution, sexual dimorphism, ecological guild evolution, and phylogenetic comparative studies. All data were derived from publicly available published sources and do not contain human subject data or sensitive information.
