Abstract
In this study, we estimated the net ecosystem carbon balance (NECB) from a nutrient‐poor minerogenic peatland and two nearby natural mires in northern Sweden by integrating terrestrial carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane (CH4) fluxes with aquatic losses of dissolved organic C (DOC) and inorganic C based on eddy covariance and stream discharge measurements, respectively, over three years. Each variable presented was measured during each experimental period in sites.

Description of the data and file structure
DATA-SPECIFIC INFORMATION FOR: |- Terrestrial measurements/
This folder includes all terrestrial flux and environment measurement data. The data are classified into the three study sites.
| |- Terrestrial measurements/Degerö Mire
This folder includes the environmental and flux data recorded from Degerö Mire during the study years. The folder includes two files:
“Degerö_BIOMET_30min.csv” includes the half-hourly BIOMET data. This includes income photosynthetically active radiation (PAR), air temperature (Ta), relative humidity (RH), water table level (WTL), soil temperature (Ts), vapour pressure deficit (VPD). For each column in the file, the first row denotes the name, the second row denotes the description, and the third row denotes the unit. Data begins from the fourth row. Cells with ‘n/a’ indicate data which were not measured and thus are not available during the period.
The file “Degerö_CH4_30min.csv” includes the original and gapfilled CH4 flux data at Degerö Mire. The columns include date time, CH4 flux and data source (whether it is gapfilled or original data). For each column in the file, the first row denotes the name, the second row denotes the description, and the third row denotes the unit. Data begins from the fourth row. Cells with ‘n/a’ indicate data which were not measured and thus are not available during the period.
The file “Degerö_CO2_30min.csv” includes the original and the gapfilled CO2 flux data at Degerö Mire. The columns include date time, NEE, data source (whether it is gapfilled or original data), ecosystem respiration (Reco) and gross primary productivity (GPP). For each column in the file, the first row denotes the name, the second row denotes the description, and the third row denotes the unit. Data begins from the fourth row. Cells with ‘n/a’ indicate data which were not measured and thus are not available during the period.
| |- Terrestrial measurements / Hälsingfors Mire
This folder includes the environmental and flux data recorded from Hälsingfors Mire during the study years. The folder includes two files:
“Hälsingfors_BIOMET_30min.csv” includes the half-hourly BIOMET data.
The file “Hälsingfors_CH4_30min.csv” includes the original and gapfilled CH4 flux data at Hälsingfors Mire.
The file “Halsingfors_CO2_30min.csv” includes the original and the gapfilled CO2 flux data at Hälsingfors Mire.
| |- Terrestrial measurements /Trollberget peatland
The file “TBM_BIOMET.xlsx” includes the half-hourly and daily averaged BIOMET data. The file includes two sheets, namely “30-minute variables” and “daily_averaged variable”. 30-minute variables include latent heat flux (LE), sensible heat flux (H), global radiation (Rg), air temperature (Ta), soil temperature (Ts), relative humidity (RH), vapour pressure deficit (VPD), friction velocity (u*), wind direction, normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI). Daily averaged variables include water table level (WTL), snow depth, precipitation and photosynthetically active radiation (PAR). In each column in the file, the first row denotes the name, the second row denotes the description, and the third row denotes the unit. Data begins from the fourth row. Cells with ‘n/a’ indicate data which were not measured and thus are not available during the period.
The file “TBM_CO2_CH4_30min.xlsx” includes the half-hourly flux data. The columns include measured and gapfilled net ecosystem exchange, measured and gapfilled CH4 flux, ecosystem respiration (Reco) and gross primary productivity (GPP). In each column in the file, the first row denotes the name, the second row denotes the description, and the third row denotes the unit. Data begins from the fourth row. Cells with ‘n/a’ indicate data which were not measured and thus not available during the period.
DATA-SPECIFIC INFORMATION FOR:| Aquatic measurements
The file “Discharge rate.xlsx” includes the daily mean discharge rate (in mm day-1) in the Hälsingfors mire, Degerö mire, Trollberget east and Trollberget west.
The file “DC_Concentrations.xlsx” includes the concentration of DOC and DIC based on each sampling measurement. The column includes the year, month, day, site name, “DOC_mg_l” (DOC concentration in mg L-1) and “DIC_mg_l” (DIC concentration in mg L-1).
